With infection control dominating the global agenda at present, Aquapak Polymers has worked with Sekoplas Industries to expand its range of infection control products that can be used in the fight against COVID-19.

The demand for infection control products and PPE has grown significantly during this pandemic, and Sekoplas Industries are leading the way in manufacturing hot water-soluble aprons and gloves using Hydropol™ – Aquapak’s patent protected polymer.

Alongside aprons and gloves, the Malaysia-based manufacturer will continue to manufacture fully soluble bags made from Hydropol™. These include laundry and infection control bags both for domestic and industrial use – which have been extremely popular during this time – as well as fashion garment bags.

Mark Lapping, CEO of Aquapak Polymers, said: “It made logical sense to use Hydropol™ to create other useful products that frontline workers can use to help protect themselves from coronavirus.

“Hydropol™ gloves and aprons are both practical and environmentally-friendly. They can be used alongside Hydropol™ infection control bags to minimize the risk of cross-contamination when bagging up uniforms, and then dissolve completely in a hot wash cycle, with no plastic waste being generated.”

Just like infection control bags, aprons and gloves made from Hydropol™ minimise the risk of transmission of pathogen, whilst remaining anti-static and Atex compliant. Once used, they can be easily disposed of in an industrial laundry service, as they completely dissolve without leaving any residue.

Switching to Hydropol™ material also saves tonnes of potentially contaminated polyethylene (PE) aprons and gloves from landfill/incineration each day.

Hydropol™ aprons and gloves can also be used at petrol pumps, for food handling/catering and housekeeping/cleaning, amongst other uses and industries.
